In a bittersweet announcement, Kelli Cruciotti’s longtime partner Chamonix H has been retired to pasture at Windsor Farm in Upperville, Virginia where she will live alongside five other mares owned by the Cruciotti family. As Kelli’s former junior jumper and first grand prix horse, Chamonix H helped the former equitation star make a name for herself in the jumper ring when they won the $100,000 Sapphire Grand Prix at the Devon Horse Show in 2015, when Kelli was just seventeen years old. The 2001 Swedish Warmblood mare (Equest Carnute x Caletto II) joined Kelli in 2013 and together the pair qualified and competed in events throughout the country. Chamonix played a pivotal role in helping Kelli qualify for the 2019 Longines FEI World Cup Finals in Gothenburg, Sweden, having placed 3rd in the Columbus World Cup Qualifier and top ten at the Washington International Horse Show World Cup Qualifier.
Chamonix H recently arrived at Windsor Farm in Upperville, Virginia to begin her retirement, where she joins five other Cruciotti owned mares. The two-hundred-acre facility consists of many rotating twenty-acre fields with running water, natural shelter, and run-in sheds with fans for the summer months. Alexa Lowe’s experienced show staff provide top quality care to the retirees, including daily checks and frequent photo updates to the owners. We can only hope Chamonix H loves her retirement as much as we loved having her at Serenity Farm!
